Who’s in your bed?

Date

I was wondering about who you let into your bed. Sure, there’s possibly your partner but who else is there?

I’ve found that it’s often far too easy to let other people in there with us. Too often have I realised that someone else has crept their way into my intimate space (our intimate space) and I did not invite them in. They’re not physically there; but their presence lays on the same sheets that we do. The sound of their voice echoes in the room along with ours. They take up space that is not theirs to inhabit.

If the bed is feeling too crowded; it’s time to start restricting access.

It’s easy to not realise who is in bed with you until you really look around. You might take a look under the covers and find hurtful comments that your ex made that always plague your mind. Perhaps you’ll find the kids relentless schedule in there. Sheets stained with families opinions of your relationship and painful memories of the past.

Those in your bed can start to occupy space in your relationship that is not theirs to touch and it needs to be closely guarded. So, I ask you: who’s in your bed?
